Turn Direction & Playing First
On the first game of the table, the direction in which the players turns are taken is clockwise. For each game thereafter, the direction changes between clockwise and counterclockwise based on the first card; if the first card is red, the direction is counter-clockwise. If it is black, the card direction is clockwise. The turn direction is shown in the game room with an icon that shows a clockwise or counter-clockwise direction.
- The first player to initiate game play in Tongits is referred to as the Dealer. At the start of a new table with three players, the Dealer will always be in the position to the right. If the Dealer leaves the table, the next person to take the previous Dealer’s seat will be the new Dealer.
- If there is no person seated in the right hand position, such as in two player games, at the start of a new game the Dealer will be determined by the current hand direction. If the hand direction is clockwise, the player on the left side table position will be the Dealer. If the hand direction is counterclockwise, the player on the top table position will be the Dealer.
The player who won the last game is referred to as the Hitter (a button with the letter H will be displayed next to the Hitter). The Hitter will always be the Dealer and take the first turn.
